Another day with very
strong South wind conditions, a 74 KM task was launched but cancelled a few minutes
after. The organisors
decide to set up a task on Monday the 27th, the South wind should disapear and a weak
North-East wind should
replace it.....
Due to strong wind conditions, Task 4 couldn't have been run.
Task 2 (PWC task 14) Official results
The Classics are back!
Today the inversion went back to its normal position giving pilots the possibility to fly in much more interesting conditions.
With cloud base at about 4000m, the organizer and the committee decided a 91,1km task going to the beach for a swim...
Because of those who had already done this task two years ago, the task setter used turn-point #23 "Lugros", turning this task even bigger.
According to the pilots, it was a wonderful view flying back from the 23 while soaring on the top of the clouds formed some hundred meters below them on the east side of Sierra Nevada.
The very same thermal as two years, was waiting for the pilots at the last mountain Sierra del Lugar, working as a tarpaulin to the beach.
At the last transition the stability and light fog made only possible to see the pilots, once they were already above the beach.
With 79 pilots reaching goal, the winner was Peter Luethi NOVA FDIX-PERT, followed by Steve Cox in ADVANCE OMEGA4 only 18sec later and Denis Cortella was 3th 53sec after the first
Today it was the warming up day.Pilots and organization were getting into the rYthm, specially the ones coming from the Europeans. The weather forecast was announcing a very stable situation, making impossible for the pilots to go to the usual and big take-off. As a consequence, organisers were oblied to use a new and small take-off, called "Monte Ahi de Cara",producing some mess! With a low termal activity and a maximum height of 2500m, the meet director and the pilots committee (Jimmy Pacher and Jamon Morilles), launched a task of 41,6km going through turn-point 19, start at the lower take-off "Las Rosas", turn-point 17, 20 and goal at the landing of "Cenes de la Vega". It was a very fast and beautiful task with around 147 pilots leaving the start at the same time, spreading later in four groups and reaching goal 51 pilots in less than 30min! The winner was the french pilot Thomas Puthod in APCO TIGRA followed by Jimmy Pacher in EDEL SECTOR 4 seconds later. In third place, came the Swiss Peter Von Kanel on NOVA FDI BLUE DOG.
The entire task was followed by several cameras, where the most spectacular images were made from a micro-light that, not disturbing at all the pilots, was able to be at the right spot at the right time! Lets just hope that the weather improves in unstability to have the "good old-days" of Sierra Nevada!!...
