The north wind has finally decreased this afternoon and allows to have one more task around Bourg St Maurice valley starting at 15:00. The conditions are still strong, and two pilots deploy their reserve parachute. One of them is not reachable by radio and a search by helicopter starts forcing the meet director to stop the task. A few minutes later, the second pilot is finally contacted and confirms that he has no problem... so both pilots are safe and not injured. 3 pilots were already in goal when the task was stopped, meaning that the task is score at the stopping time. Christian Maurer (CH) was in goal, Stefan Wyss (CH) was second and Bruce Goldsmith (UK) was third. Ewa Wisnierska (D) was leading followed by Keiko Hiraki (J) and Petra Krausova (CZ). Patrick Berod (F) is still leading the competition, with Bruce Goldsmith and Frank Brown in second and third place. No change in the women ranking... Ewa, Petra and Keiko are leading. First task in Bourg St Maurice, with a race of almost 74km. The weather is very sunny, with some cumulus on the higher mountains. Some high altitude clouds are forecasted later in the afternoon. The task starts above Les Arcs 1800 at 13:30 and the race starts one hour later. The first turnpoint was located close to Bozel (close to "La plagne") then pilots had to come back near the take-off area above Bourg St Maurice, and the last turnpoint before goal was located in Courchevel... 3 ski resorts in one day ! On the way to Courchevel, the high altitude clouds are putting a lot of shade and thermals become very weak. Pilots need to wait in the air for the sun to come back in order to allow them to finish the race after almost 2 hours of smooth soaring. A first group get away of Courchevel with Patrick Berod and Max Jeanpierre reaching goal almost together. They are followed by a large second group of pilots a few minutes later. A third and last group are reaching goal 2 hours after the winner. Patrick Berod (F) wins the task, Max JeanPierre (F) is second and Jean-Marc Caron (F) is third in goal. On the women side, Petra Krausova (CZ) is the first in goal, followed by Keiko Hiraki (J) and Ewa Wisnierska (D). Max Jeanpierre now leads the World Cup ranking, with Christian Maurer (CH) second and Gregory Blondeau (F) third. Petra Krausova keeps the first position in the World Cup ranking, followed by Ewa Wisnierska and Keiko Hiraki. Some pilots get a 100 points penalty for not doing the safety report back.
