Thursday, April 28th, 2005 - 75km race... 85 pilots in goal

A north west flux is blowing today in the Bulgarian sky.

The meet director really knows his flying site. He propose an interesting mixed task to the pilots.

All the new coloured glider are taking off together for a 66km task. The pilots are fast reaching a hi altitude to avoid lower levels that remains rough because of many mountain dust devils.
Along the mountain, the pilots are surfing the south breeze that converge with the north tendency. Jean-François Chapuis a french pilots rides an integrated 7.2 thermal and finally catch a maximum of
10.2 m/s !!
After a really low point at the second turn point in front of the take off, the leading pilots are choosing to get back to the mountain but sinks again and have to get back to the flatland.
The options are really open in the second part of the race. The race now ends in the flatland in the direction of the big town of Kazanlak.
At least three different groups can still win the day.

Aljaz Valic (from Slovenia) wins the task, followed by Rodrigo Monteiro (from Brazil) and Luca Donini (from Italy).
