The last task in Cornizzolo for this World Cup event is a 53.8km race starting at 13:00.

Some high alto-stratus clouds are forecasted and the forecast is right !

The thermals vanished when the clouds covered the all sky, forcing pilots to land while they were flying the end of the task. Only 3 pilots make it to goal.

Radek Vecera is the first in goal, Andreas Malecki is second and Ogisawa Kaoru is third and last in goal !

On the women side, Marina Olexina is first, with Ewa Wisnierska second and Petra Krausova third.

Chritian Maurer wins the competition, Martin Orlik is second and Max Jeanpierre is third.

The competition podium for the women is composed of Ewa Wisnierska, Petra Krausova and Marina Olexina.

The World Cup rankings are unchanged... Christian Maurer is leading, Patrick Berod is second and Charles Cazaux is third and for the women, Ewa is first, Petra second and Karin Appenzeller third.

The north wind has gone and replaced by some south-west wind.

This task goes much more in the flat area, and many pilots have some trouble to get back from the 2nd turnpoint. The leading group start their final glide a bit low and some pilots land short before the goal line.

Christian Maurer is the first in goal, followed by Hans Bollinger and Oliver Rossel. Ewa Wisnierska is the first woman in goal (12th overall), Petra Krausova second and Marina Olexina third.

Christian Maurer now leads the competition followed by Martin Orlik and Max Jeanpierre. Petra and Ewa keep the 1st and 2nd position in the competition, but Marina now comes in third position.

No change in the World Cup ranking... Christian Maurer is still leading, followed by Patrick Berod and Charles Cazaux and same for the women... Ewa, Petra, Karin...

Thursday, July 21st, 2005 - no task today because of the strong north wind

Rest day for everybody... ending with a "Fly Cheese Party" at night in Valsassina...

110km race... we have to look back a few years ago to have such a long task !

Today's race starts on Monte Cornizzolo, then goes to Como, Lecco, then south east, back to Monte Cornizzolo, then south again in the flats and back at Suello landing.

More than 30 pilots are reaching goal. Michael Witschi is first, Christian Maurer second, Stefan Wyss third. 3 swiss pilots !

Petra Krausova is the only woman to reach goal. Ewa Wisnierska lands after flying more than 101km, and Keiko Hiraki is third.

Michael witschi leads the competition result, followed by Tomas Brauner and Martin Orlik. Petra is the leading woman, followed by Ewa and Keiko.

No change in the World Cup ranking... Christian Maurer is still leading, Patrick Berod is second and Charles Cazaux remains third. Same for the women World Cup ranking... Ewa stays ahead, followed by Petra and Karin Appenzeller.

Back to Cornizzolo and the great organization of Marcello Tessieri ! The walk up to the take off is still there ! Some pilots are loosing weight, but they probably need it ( see numbers 2, 111, 60, 3, 52, 37, 70 and 950, to receive a full list send us 80 €, thanks !). Giorgio, the meet director is proposing a 46.8 km race to the east with the typical lake crossing flying of the area ! The first turnpoint is near Lecco. The view over the lake is breathtaking. The cloudbase is around 1500 m and the thermals around 2.5 m/s. The difficult part is to come back from Roncola, the second turnpoint with some front wind. From the last little summit 8 km from goal, different routes are possible. The straight one, over another lake and in the flats, is working for some but not for everybody ! The first pilot going back to the first slopes of Mt Cornizzolo are the fastest, leaded by Michael Witschi, from Switzerland. Michael won the Dominican Republic pre-World Cup last year. He already won the first task in Serbia, two weeks before ! Maybe he's a good bet as first task winner in Portugal ! A few seconds behind comes Tomas Brauner. As an ex-pizzaiolo in Italy, Tomas feels like at home ! Rodrigo Monteiro is third. Petra is the first girl, just a few seconds before Ewa, with a lucky Bruce Goldsmith inbetween !! The Mac Para team cleans up with Martin Orlik in fourth place !

Tonight, a concert at the headquarters !
