Sunday, October 30th, 2004 - 51 km race cancelled because of the rain

The last 2004 tour task has been cancelled because of the rain.

Friday, October 29th, 2004 - 49 km race with 54 pilots in goal

A lot of moisture from yesterday is in the air and the launch area is in the fog in the morning.

The fog disappears and the cloud base in going up allowing a short task as over developements are expected.

The turnpoints chosen are all quite close to the take off, and the landing is right below take off.

The first turnpoint is causing troubles to some pilots like Petra Krausova as there is not much lift there.

54 pilots are finally reaching goal with Shoichiro Tadano first, Christian Maurer second and Paolo Zammarchi third. Keiko Hiraki who had a bad landing during the first task is the first woman in goal, Naomi Ventura second and Caroline Brille third.

Stefan Wyss is still leading the competition result, followed by Paolo Zammarchi and Torsten Siegel. Elisabeth and Carol and still first and second, but Caroline Brille now comes in third position.

No change in the World Cup ranking... Oliver Rössel is still leading with only 88 points more than Paolo. Franck Brown is third, with only 133 points behind Oliver... the podium can still change !

No change in the women World Cup ranking... Petra is leading, Elisabeth second and Caroline third.

Thursday, October 28th, 2004 - task cancelled due to overdevelopping clouds

A task in starting but big over developements not far away forces the it to be cancelled early. Later in the afternoon we have thunderstorms and rain all over the area. It is the perfect time for our General Assembly (see the news page for more info).

Wednesday, October 27th, 2004 - 67km race with 64 pilots in goal

A very nice task today, with a new turnpoint to change the beginning of the task. After an out and return with several options the pilots went to the north to the goal of San Marcos. Everybody enjoyed the safe flying.

Stefan Morgenthaler was leading the task and thought about gliding to the goal with help from the back wind when the glide ratio was still 15 !

Before the lake he found a good thermal and made some more turns to have finally a glide ratio of 9 and it was just enough as there was no more wind in the goal area.

Several pilots followed him, but it was a bad for Christian Maurer. By making a good task he could reached again the first position in the World Cup overall, but unfortunately he missed for 50m. It will be very difficult now for him to catch up with Oliver Rössel, Paolo Zammarchi and Franck Brown.

The team Spaelti-Logo cleaned up ! They win the team result of the day, the first man and the first woman.

We are now looking for a new goal further in the north for the remaining of the competition.

In the evening all pilots enjoyed a full moon eclipse where a fiesta has been organized for this special occasion.

So... Stefan Morgenthaler is first in goal, he his followed within second by Marco Arnold. Hans Bolling is third, Elisabeth Rauchenberger is the first woman is goal, followed by Carol Licini.

Stefan Wyss now leads the competition, followed by Franck Brown and Alex Hofer. Elisabeth Rauchenberger is the leading woman for the competition, followed by Carol Licini and Petra Krausova.

Oliver Rössel is still leading the World Cup ranking, now followed by Paolo Zammarchi and Franck Brown. No change on the women side, Petra, Elisabeth and Caroline Brille are leading the World Cup Women ranking.

Tuesday, October 26th, 2004 - 66km race is started...

A 66 km race is starting at 12:30.

24 pilots are making goal, many are landing on the Tapalpa plateau.

Shoishiro Tadano wins the task, he is followed by Paolo Zammarchi and Marco Littame. No women are reaching goal. Elisabeth Rauchenberger lands after flying more than 48km, Petra Krausova lands at 45.9km and Caroll Licini reaches 42.8km.

Oliver Rössel is still leading the World Cup ranking, followed by Franck Brown and Paolo Zammarchi.

For the women, it is still Petra who is leading, followed by Elisabeth and Caroline Brille.

Today's winning team is Spaelti-Logo !

Monday, October 25th, 2004 - Task 2 canceled by jury decision

A 66 km race has started... but while heading to the last turnpoint the wind is too strong and turbulent and most pilots go to land for safety reason.

More then 20 pilots are asking for cancellation of the task and the jury finally decides unanimously to cancel the task. (see Jury decision).

Sunday, October 24th, 2004 - Task 1 cancelled

A 57 km task is starting, but the strong wind mixed with thermals make the air very turbulent in some area forcing the task to be canceled.
