Sunday, July 21th, 2001

Today, the task starts and ends in La Clusaz village. for this last day of competition, the pilots have to fly a 69km triangle task going to the Charvin, then the Parmelan and bac to the north of the Aravis.

Patrick Berod (F) arrives first, followed by Peter Von Känel (CH) and Yvan Boullen (F). For the women, Nicole Nussbaum (CH) and Caroline Brille (F) are ex-aequo, followed by Eliane Ueltschi (CH).

Peter Von Känel (CH) is the winner of the La Clusaz PWC, followed by Marco Arnold (F) and Jean-Marc Caron (F). For the women, Louise Crandal (DEN) is winning, followed by Eliane Ueltschi (CH) and Caroline Brille (F).

Jean-Marc Caron (F) now leads in the PWC ranking, followed by Peter Brinkeby (SW) and Patrick Berod (F). For the women, Louise Crandal (DEN) is now leading, followed by Eliane Ueltschi (CH) and Petra Krausova (CZ).

Switzerland comes back in the first place, followed with only a 5 points difference by France, then Austria.

Thursday, July 19th, 2001

The weather forecast announces strong wind and thunderstorms in the afternoon. The MD choose to go to Mieussy, the most eastern takeoff possible to try to make a little task. This choice proved to be good, the task is a 48km race to goal along the Giffre valley.

After starting in the west of Mieussy, the pilots are going to Samoens and then back to Taninges. finally, 40 pilots are making goal in Samoens again.

The first to reach goal is Alex "new swiss champion" Hofer (CH), followed by Marco "sauerkraut express" Arnold (F) and Stefan "schwartzenegger" Stieglair (A).

Louise Crandal (DEN) is the only women making goal, followed by Caroline Brille (F) and Kazuko Kamyama (J).


Wednesday, July 18th, 2001

Rain, rain, rain... no task today.

A party is organized in the evening with the famous "Giant Tartiflette" for diner and a concert with the Big Fat Mama band. Xavier Murillo even plays some guitar and drums with the band !

  


Tuesday, July 17th, 2001

The weather is forecasting low clouds and sun in the afternoon. The day task is 71.7 km long going from La Clusaz to the Annecy Lake, then back to Petit Bornand and a last turnpoint in La Clusaz before the goal.

In the afternoon, the cloudbase went up to 2500m and SW wind getting stronger.

26 pilots are reaching goal after 3 hours of flight. Steve Cox is the first to reach goal, followed by 4 other swiss pilots (Alex Hofer, Stefan Wyss, Kaspar Henny, Peter Von Känel). Swiss and France are sharing the first 10 places !

Louise Crandal (DEN) is the first women. She lands 400m before the goal. She is followed by 2 other swiss pilot: Eliane Ueltschi and Nicole Nussbaum.

On the PWC ranking, Vincent Sprungli (F) is again at the first place, followed by Kaspar Henny (CH) and Peter Brinkeby (SWE). For the women, Petra Krausova (CZ) still leads, followed by Louise Crandal (DEN) and Eliane Ueltsch (CH). Switzerland comes back in first place, shortly followed by France and then Austria.


Monday, July 16th, 2001

The weather forecast is not very good, but there are some chances for a short task around Annecy Lake.

Pilots are gathering on Montmin take-off (previously used in the 1999 PWC Grand-Bornand), but the could base is staying too low to allow a task.
