Task 5
Very strange weather conditions for this last day : a white athmosphere is coming from
the West. It looks like a sea breeze in the Alps !
The weather forecast announces variable wind from 15 to 40km/h...
After a long wait at take off, the South wind is suddenly turning to West. The 39km
race to goal, ground started is beginning.
The course is a double out and return in Mieussy valley. After a strong moment at the
Marcely's peak, only half of the participants are still in the air for the end of the
race. Once again, the stability of the lower level stop the first ones not far from the
end. The task is finally not valid.
After a drink at the center of the town, the pilots are invited to a "giant
tartiflette"meal, just before the prize giving ceremony.
So Mieussy's winner are !!!

Task 4
To escape from the stable conditions, today's race takes place inside the higher
mountains in Morzine's direction.
After a hard fight to go through the inversion, most of the pilots succed to reach the
"Roc d'Enfer" at 3000m. The task then drive the pilots to Super Morzine and
Jotty's dam. The end of the race is very tactical and multiple ways are possible. Denis
Cortella is making the best choice, comming back by "les Gets" and
"Tanninge". He finally lands near the last turn point after a last glide over
Mieussy and is the day winner.
In the serial class classification, Rolf Dale is wining the task and leads the
classification.
In the team classification, France is taking the first place

Task 3
Better thermal condition where expected and a bigger task of 85km was set.
But the stability was still strong and Jimmy Pacher, winner of the day if flying 64km. To
stay in the air the pilots had to work in very weak thermals close to the ground. At the
end the task is scored on 1000.

Task 2
After the first task and the very stable condition we had in the first task, we where expecting no very good conditions. Pascal Betent the meet director did set a 54km air speed run using 9 clock starts. This task was built to give strategic opportunity to the pilots.
Finally the conditions were much better than expected. The good thermals made a fast task
along Cluses, Mieussy valley, and the Green valley.
Josh Cohn from USA was the best today. To win he tried a different option to the last
turnpoint using a direct and more radical trajectory.

Task 1
Finally the wind dissapeared and pilots could go up to take off. Due to very stable conditions; the MD; the TD and the pilot committee had to change 4 times the task. At 16h00; a task of 40 km is finally launched; only 5 french pilots arrive at goal and only 16 pilots instead of 20 have flown the minimum distance. So this task can not be validated for PWC ranking but only for the competition.
Monday, August the 21st, 2000
Another day with too much wind, no task has been run !
Sunday, August the 20th, 2000
Due to very strong wind conditions no task could have taken place in Mieussy. The weather forecast for tomorrow Monday, August the 21st is not so good but it seems to be much better for the rest of the week. Let's see !!!!
