A 65km task was launched, but after 1 hour30 flight, it had to be cancelled due to strong thermal winds.
Once again it's a forced rest day, due to too strong wind.
Task was cancelled at take off. The task director was expecting thunderstorms.
The second task has just finished
It was an out & return race to goal of 71,7 km. The french pilot Claude Lemaire won the task. He flew the distance in 3h02 min. Even if 48 pilots made the goal, lots of top pilots landed very soon. The conditions were a little bumpy and most of pilots had to fly once again over scaring valleys full of eucalypthus...
Claire Bernier won again, Sandie Cochepain is second
The first task has been flown.
It was a 89,9 km task won by.....Peter Brinkeby. Three valley visited, maximum altitude of 2100m for most of the pilots. The last run was fatal for five pilots who had to land in the trees (some valley are quite flat and covered by high trees). None of them was hurt, only a few lines to repair during the night! See peter's flight on a map
